Breweries from Geelong & The Bellarine Bring Home Gold
At The Q Train we are to committed so only serving beverages from our region that our liquor licence is limited to only serving beer, wine & cider from local producers. When we say we started our business with supporting local at the forefront of our decisions, this is what we mean. Last night the Australian International Beer Awards were held in Melbourne, and given how well our local breweries performed, it’s no surprise we only serve beer from Geelong, Bellarine & The Otways!!
Valhalla Brewing won the Australian Gypsy Brewer Award, as well as Best Porter for their (incredible) Obsidian Porter. (This has been on many of our seasonal menus as it is one of our FOH Manager’s all-time favourites!)
Old friends of The Q Train, Bells Beach Brewing, won Gold for their Birdrock Brown ale, and Silvers for their Hells Bells XPA, Evos ESB and Rincon Raspberry Sour.
Regional favourite Blackman’s Brewing brought home Gold for their Mervyn Pale Ale, and heaps of Silvers & Bronzes for their many other varieties. Honestly, Blackman’s ability to balance variety with consistency is why there has never been a seasonal menu on The Q Train without at least one Blackman’s brew onboard.
The Otway’s Prickly Moses won Gold for the Black Knight Imperial Stout, and Bronze for their ChainSAW & Otway Light brews.
Finally, our friends at the Queenscliff Brewery won Gold for their Swede & Sour, Silver for their Sea Pilot XPA (another favourite of our FOH Manager!) and Bronze for The Rip Helles Lager. Did you know our Rail Ales are brewed by the team at Queenscliff Brewery?!
Breweries from our region are making some of the best beer in the country, and we are so happy that everyone else knows it too! Did you know that if you travel First Class with us, we can pair our menu with local beers that enhance the flavour of our degustation? Simply ask your butler for the Beer Matching option.
