Transport Options

Boats, Buses and More! How to get to Drysdale.

Travelling from Melbourne?

The Q Train can be an easy day trip from Melbourne using any of the transport options below:

  • Driving: Simply take the M1 all the way to Geelong and then head to the Drysdale Train Station, it is only a 90-minute trip from the CBD. There is plenty of parking at the Drysdale Station. (Remember, The Q Train is a return trip, so we will bring you back to your car!)
  • Ferry from Mornington Peninsula: If you’re on the other side of the bay, Searoad Ferries and The Q Train work together to provide a seamless ferry and train experience. Click here for more information.
  • Ferry from Melbourne CBD: For a full day out, you can catch Port Phillip Ferries from Docklands, experience The Q Train, and then take the ferry back to the city. Click here for more information.

Staying on the Bellarine?

Drysdale is at the entrance to the Bellarine, and is a 15-20 min drive from Portarlington, Queenscliff and Ocean Grove.

There is plenty of parking at Drysdale Station, but if you’d prefer not to drive, many of our accommodation partners offer transport to and from The Q Train.

Bus: If you are staying in Queenscliff, Point Lonsdale, at McGlashan’s Eco Villas, or The Nest in Point Lonsdale, then Explore Australia can drive you to and from The Q Train for $33pp ($38pp for evening services). You MUST book this through us in advance. Simply add the ‘transport’ extra to your booking. Or call / email us.

Private Drivers: there are a number of private drivers in this region, but they are in high demand so book early! Here are a few of our favourites:

  • Drive Me Bellarine: 0472 646 238
  • FranScene Bellarine: 0427 664 888
  • Coastal Chauffeurs: 0408 501 975
  • Port Passengers: 0401 309 905
  • Mustang & Co: 0407 052 427

Taxis & Ubers: taxis and Ubers can be unreliable on the Bellarine. There’s nothing that makes us sadder than seeing our customers waiting 45 min for their ‘booked’ taxi to arrive after service.
